It’s a pleasure to welcome you to our informal conversation with Internet media scholar and activist Ethan Zuckerman ( via Skype on August 16, 2012.  Ethan is director of the Center for Civic Media at MIT and a principal research scientist at the MIT Media Lab (, located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, U.S. Along with Rebecca MacKinnon, he co-founded in 2005 the international blogging community Global Voices (, an initiative that had caught our interest and which we wanted to hear more about, among other things.

  • Navigate to
  • If you are a registered user, Log In. (If you are not registered, please do so first.)
  • Once you have logged in, a menu will appear in gray above the masthead/logo.
  • Click on Add New and select Post
  • This will launch a dialog box with an area for writing and formatting a post.
  • Give your post a title where it says Enter title here
  •  Enter the body of the post in the area below with the formatting buttons. Format as desired.
  • On the right hand side under Categories, select the primary category relating to the post. (MANDATORY)
  • Under Post Tags, enter any tags you want added to the post and click Add. (OPTIONAL but RECOMMENDED)
  •  When done writing the post, select Preview or Save Draft, or if completely finished, click Publish.
